Challenge

Sola Airport (3.5 mill passengers/year) is not only an important airport for commercial flights, but also offers an important and constantly used helicopter transfer to the offshore North Sea oil installations. To avoid congestion around the airport, SWARCO implemented a new parking management system for a better organization and management of the parking situation around the airport.

Details

In accordance with the tender, SWARCO delivered and implemented hard- and software for the following installations:

  • 3 outdoor parking areas with a capacity of 2,900 parking spaces each
  • 2 car parks with 6 entrances and 4 exits [1 existing car park with 600 parking spaces in 3 levels; 1 car park newly built in 2010/2011 with 1,200 spaces on 5 levels]
  • Single space detection for 1,109 parking spaces
  • Counting zones on each level
  • Dynamic visualisation on 30 signs
