Challenge
The City of Maastricht suffers from daily congestion not only due to missing major motorway connections, but also due to parking problems within the city. The city offers it’s driving public several large underground car parks, but parking still poses a major problem as parking fees are very high. To reduce the traffic looking for parking spaces, SWARCO established a parking guidance system for the city.
Details
SWARCO delivered a complete system including dynamic traffic signs with LED illuminated LCD displays showing the number of available spaces, data controllers, and also civil works and installation:
- 43 signposts with 149 dynamic signs
- Three-digit-tricolour LCD (yellow, green, red)
- LED backlight
- 15 signposts with 49 static signs
- Host computer with web-based graphical user interface
- 15 parking areas
- Radio data communication
- Design, installation and service
